FINANCING

In Cameroon, sexual and gender minorities are victims of multiple discrimination and stigmatization in the health care sector and in society in general.

Created in 2010, Humanity First Cameroon (HFC+) is a Cameroonian community-based association fighting HIV/AIDS and promoting and protecting human rights. HFC+ works primarily with vulnerable populations identified as most at risk, including men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender people.

The organization carries out activities in several areas: prevention and management of STIs and HIV/AIDS, advocacy for better access to health care for sexual minorities, and monitoring, education and protection of the rights of sexual minorities.

Their activities are carried out in four units: the Sexual Health and Prevention Unit, the Care and Treatment Unit, the Human Rights and Advocacy Unit and the Gender and Women’s Leadership Unit.

Solthis was selected by Expertise France at the request of HFC+ with the desire to make its community-based expertise more visible and to strengthen its communication skills and capacities in order to improve the visibility of its activities.
