FINANCING

The Mauritanian Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) currently benefits from three grants from the Global Fund (GF) totaling $16,349,941. Under the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria has allocated US$19,591,501 to Mauritania to finance (2022-2024) three-year programs to combat AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria and to establish resilient and sustainable health systems (SRPS). Access to these funds is conditional on the submission of a consolidated funding request as part of a country dialogue, integrating the three diseases (HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria) and cross-cutting interventions to strengthen the health system. Conducting this country dialogue and drafting the funding application requires expertise in supply and inventory management (SIM), which has been requested from the Initiative and provided by Solthis. Solthis will join the technical subcommittees set up to draft the funding application in order to support them on aspects of supply and inventory management (SIM).

Main objective

Enable Mauritania to benefit from a new grant for the 2022-2024 implementation period to combat HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria and strengthen the health system.

Activities

  • Contribute to the development and updating of strategic plans to combat HIV/TB/malaria and strengthen health systems in terms of supply and inventory management.
  • Contribution to the development of the single funding request for the fight against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria and for cross-cutting interventions to strengthen the health system in terms of supply and inventory management.
  • The request will be based on the country’s current health priorities, lessons learned from current grants, and GF requirements.

Beneficiaries

  • National Coordinating Body (CCM) Mauritania

Results

  • Inclusive and participatory country dialogues are conducted to ensure that the views of all stakeholders, particularly the community, are taken into account.

  • The technical subcommittees’ expertise on the Global Fund’s new guidelines for preparing funding applications that incorporate all three components has been strengthened.

  • The joint HIV/TB/malaria funding application is submitted in April 2021 and responses to comments from the Technical Panel Review (TRP) are provided.
