Support for an institutional and functional diagnosis of the SAS (Solidarity and Social Action) Center in Bouaké (Côté d'Ivoire)

CAPACITY BUILDINGFighting HIV / AIDS

Context

Since its creation in 1995 in Bouaké, the Centre Solidarité et Action Sociale (SAS Centre) has been working to combat HIV/AIDS in Côte d’Ivoire, initially by providing psychological and social support to patients in the early days of the pandemic when no treatment was available in the country. Today, the SAS Centre continues its work by initiating decentralisation programmes and promoting its “family approach”. The SAS Centre maintains the same objective, that is, to actively contribute to the elimination of HIV/AIDS in Côte d’Ivoire.

After 25 years of providing services to PLWHIV and their families, Centre SAS is considering how to reconcile its militant commitment with the professionalisation of the association. More specifically, the SAS Centre is reflecting on :

  • The adequacy of the current service offer with the work organisation and the management structure (employees and volunteers);
  • The adaptation of the service offer to current issues and to the environment of the main donors;
  • The modalities and strategies for re-engaging both the associative members and the service providers to support a quality service offer;
  • The capacity of the centre to remain attractive on a regional, national and international scale through the achievement of programmatic objectives, the reliability of the management of financial resources and the association’s assets.
