Tuberculosis Sierra Leone

Solthis is proud to announce a new partnership with the SENSE Foundation Brussels, which is supporting our work in Sierra Leone for the first time as part of the Free TB project, already backed by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD).

In Sierra Leone, tuberculosis remains a major public health challenge, representing the 6th leading cause of mortality in the country. Yet a significant proportion of cases still slip through the healthcare system: nearly 40% of pediatric TB cases go undetected, while access to preventive treatment remains highly insufficient.

This partnership marks an important milestone in intensifying the fight against pediatric tuberculosis (TB), particularly among the most vulnerable populations: children under 5 years of age, who face an increased risk of severe forms of the disease, frequently exacerbated by malnutrition.

In response to this reality, our Free TB project aims to improve early detection, referral, and care for at-risk children, while systematically integrating the nutritional dimension, which is essential for enhancing treatment effectiveness and reducing complications.

A partnership serving 80,000 children

Thanks to the support of AFD and the SENSE Foundation Brussels, 80,000 children under 5 will benefit from early detection.
