22 Years of Commitment to Public Health
At the end of June 2026, Solthis will officially close its office in Niger, where the organisation has been operating since 2004.
This decision follows a decline in available funding, which no longer allows us to continue our activities in the country.
Our latest projects, AZANTCHI and LAHIYATA, focused on sexual and reproductive health and on strengthening the agency of adolescents and young people, came to an end on 31 March 2026. Together, they enabled the training of more than 200 healthcare professionals and the mobilisation of 84 youth leaders and 40 teachers in the regions of Niamey and Maradi.
Over the past 22 years, Solthis has contributed to major public health achievements in Niger, from the fight against HIV to maternal and child health, as well as adolescent and youth health. More than 33,000 adolescents and young people have been reached with sexual and reproductive health information, and over 3,000 people have been trained or supported across a range of health-related topics.
Solthis warmly thanks all of its partners, in particular the Ministry of Public Health and Hygiene, as well as the institutions, associations, communities and teams with whom we have worked throughout these years.
We also pay tribute to everyone who has contributed, over more than two decades, to advancing equitable access to quality healthcare in Niger.
